The Parkour Essence workshop will be launching on Saturday 12 May. Gordon and Rory shared more details about this over email, but we're posting it here in case you missed it:
Parkour Essence Workshop
What is it? The Parkour Essence workshops will focus on the deeper values and the origins of the practice, as well as anecdotes from our personal experiences and philosophies to share with the community. The workshops will last approximately 2.5 hours. This is to allow us to introduce the concepts of each workshop, work through them, and have time to reflect and discuss them. We will also factor in time for questions at the end. Each workshop will focus on something different.
Rory and I each have over a decade of Parkour experience, spending time in different communities, travelling to various events, and the practice has heavily influenced our lives out with Parkour. These workshops will be an opportunity for us to share our experiences and insights, and reflect on how the values of Parkour shape our everyday lives – something that we are both very passionate about.
Who is it aimed at? The workshops are aimed at anyone (aged 16 or older) who has an interest in furthering their understanding of the discipline and utilising these methods to improve their training. Ideally, you would already have a basic understanding of the movements. If you’ve been to a few classes, then that should be sufficient. However, if you are unsure, please get in touch.
When will it take place? The workshops will run on Saturday evenings at 5:00pm over a 6 week period on the following dates: 12 May, 19 May, 2 June, 9 June, 16 June, and 23 June. Please note that there will be no workshop on Saturday 26 May.
Where will it take place? The workshops will take place in outdoor locations in central Edinburgh. We will use the locations that best suit the particular workshop, so the location will change from week to week. However, we will keep you updated with the locations closer to the time, via email and social media.
How much will it cost? The workshops will be FREE. We want to open this up to those who want to learn and develop a better understanding of Parkour and ensure that there is no financial barrier. This is a personal project for Rory and I, and whilst it is set up via Access Parkour, we will not be paid by Access for this work. However, given that we will be putting in a lot of time and effort into planning and delivering the workshops, we would appreciate donations at the end of a workshop if you felt that it was worthwhile. A portion of the proceeds will go towards Edinburgh Parkour to help support the wider community.
How many people can attend each workshop? In order to ensure that each participant gets a valuable experience, we will capping the workshops at 12 participants. We will be adding the workshops onto the MindBody booking system, so please ensure that you have booked onto the workshop if you want to come along.
If you have any further questions, please get in touch with us.
Kind regards,
